Targeting Audiences
- Weekly magazines tend to have an audience that is more working class
- C2DE audience (NRS)
- Eg. "Take A Break" "What's On TV" 'OK!" and "TV Choice"
- They come out more often so are a lower quality
- These are cheaper
- Tend to be more 'gossip based' or 'trashy' magazines
- The quality of monthly magazines tends to target a middle-class audience.
- They're monthly so can afford to make a higher quality product
- More expensive
- ABC1 audience (NRS)
- EG. "Good Housekeeping", "Cosmopolitan", "Vogue", "BBC Good food","MOJO"
- Most popular weekly and monthly magazines have a mostly female readership.
- Magazines aimed at men are less successful
- The most popular magazines aimed at men are "Men's Health" and "BBC Topgear"
Mojo Readers
- Mojo has a small circulation*
- Circulation of about 68,000 copies in 2016-2017 (bigger magazines have around 1,000,000)
- *Circulation = eg. a hardcopy of a magazine in circulation
- Niche target audience (small target audience)
- A readership of about 138,000 (for comparison, "cosmopolitan" has well over 1,000,000
- Class = Similar share of middle-class and working-class readers. ABC1 (NRS)
- Genders = Four times more likely to be read by men than women
- Age = - The readership is adult -Greater number of older readers (over 35)

Just to reiterate, when referring to the different texts we have studied, it won't help the examiner if you just say "Pink Floyd" magazine. You MUST refer to the exact publication.
